DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 940, 21J, 18S, nickel OF display recase with Hamilton marked bezels, case band with screws at 4 and 8 indicating this case originally was with a removable inner "conversion" band to accommodate use with a 16S mvt, "Daunt the Jeweler" marked fancy white enamel SS dial with telephone style gold numerals within pink and gold foil numeral surrounds, decorative elements in pink and two shades of gold foil, gold foil minute markers, and blue signature, fancy gilt Louis XV style hands, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, nickel damascene, s#296680. This example is highlighted by its beautiful telephone style fancy dial, and we believe the dial signature is for Charles Daunt, of Merced (and later Modesto), California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered small fine to micro-fine scratches and pinpoint surface nicks, few small mild bits of oxide to regulator assembly, case screws are mismatched; dial virtually flawless in visible portion while bezel is in-place with only a micro-fine scratch between 9 and 10, removing bezel reveals a patched edge chip at setting lever area; nearly mint hands; case shows light wear, short scratches to rear of band at 8, some scattered small nicks; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystals.
ESTIMATE: $300 - $500
